Platos cave

Everyone has different opinions, and mostly we know there is more going on than what is just in front of us. Which is precisely why the world will never have world peace, and there will always be a constant growth. If we all thought just alike there would be no point to living, there would not be any wars yes, but also there wouldn’t be any justice system, no good debates, and most likely no compassion. If you ask 100 people their opinion on something, such as the “poll” I’m taking for my paper on Elvis, there is a majority who will say the same response, but there are also different opinions, which I think is beautiful. Diversity is what creates expansion, without it our economy and all of humanity cannot thrive. Americans on a whole don’t just take what’s in front of them as fact; for the most part they search out the ‘truth’ to form their own opinions. In the cave, Plato and Socrates discuss that there was no other option for searching for the truth the ‘shadows’ had to just go with what they knew to be true with just what they had before their eyes; nothing more.

Reality isn’t necessarily the same for everyone either, if so there would be more of a constant definition of “Love”. I myself can explain love to someone, and they feel a completely different way! We don’t all have to agree on everything, but we do have to agree that everyone has a different but not less valid opinion on everything than we do, not worse; just different.

You can argue with people, but sometimes they will not actually be listening to you, they could just want to argue and hear themselves prove the points they themselves want to hear; just to solidify what they believe in not necessarily to be open minded about changing their mind. But also be hoping to change other people’s minds who may be listening to you argue with yourself.
